Olympic Blog

What an amazing experience covering the 2012 London Summer Olympics. Surrounded by a talented crew and the ability to access the families of USA Olympic athletes. Following Team Lochte, Jeah!. Experiencing the two gold gymnastics performances of Team USA and Gabby Douglas. The rocking atmosphere of beach volleyball at historic Horse Guard Parade as the team of Walsh-Jennings/May-Treanor dominated it’s competition. A thrilling overtime victory by Team USA women’s water polo against Australia. Finishing with the dominating display of athleticism by the world’s greatest athlete Ashton Eaton.  I feel very fortunate to have been part of the NBC family covering this monumental event.

Below is a recap story of our seventeen days in London. I’ll never forget the crew and my families for their dedication in helping me deliver the greatest stories of our generation. The motto of the games was inspire a generation. I know I was inspired by these games and hope to inspire the next generation of children and story tellers. Special thanks to my wife Christy and children Ruby and Cassidy for allowing me to live my dream and cover these games. To my crew Suzie Paxton, producer, Laura Wilkinson, reporter, and Joao Valle, sound, for providing a top notch professionalism and a pleasurable atmosphere to tell our stories.

I look forward to capturing more stories of our lifetime in the near future and will never forget the lessons taught to me in covering the London games.

I’d love to hear any feedback you have regarding my blog and coverage of these games. Feel free to contact me at timsotter@gmail.com or at Tim Sotter Productions on facebook.
